Copyright in the digital single market and data protection

A letter from Pirate MEP Marcel Kolaja, Vice-President of the European Parliament, and its signatories (including all Pirate MEPs) to the Commissioner Thierry Breton asking to involve the European Data Protection Board in the implementation process of the Copyright directive.

„It is clear that in times when platforms can face up to 500 hours of video uploaded per minute, the only way to comply with such obligations is to use automated filters. Such filters inherently carry the risk of monitoring users and can lead to automated decision- making and profiling.“
