European Pirate Party (PPEU) and Greens/EFA Group seal partnership deal for enhanced collaboration

Brussels, 16/12/2023 — In the spirit of positivity and cooperation, the European Pirate Party (PPEU) and the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament have successfully solidified an agreement aimed at strengthening their collaborative efforts. The agreement, officially adopted on Saturday, 16 December 2023, marks a positive step forward in fostering a more unified approach.

At the heart of the deal is the recognition of Pirate Party Members of the European Parliament as a distinct delegation within the Greens/EFA Group. This positive move aims to enhance communication and coordination between the two parties.

Mikuláš Peksa, Chairperson of the European Pirate Party:

This agreement is a positive development in our collaboration. This new arrangement sets the stage for a more harmonious and effective partnership in the European Parliament. This agreement provides a clear framework ahead and after the upcoming EU elections. After two years of negotiations, its approval is a good step, offering confidence to all parties involved about our shared political goals and strategies moving forward. The deal explicitly emphasizes that the Pirates remain separate from the Greens, fostering constructive collaboration within the same Group in the European Parliament. It’s a beneficial arrangement that allows us to work together without compromising our distinct identity and values.
